The Course

Originally built in 1933 as a way to aid unemployed laborers during the Depression, Poplar Creek Golf Course was originally The San Mateo Municipal Golf Course. The course was closed in April of 1999 for a complete renovation and redesign. In July of 2000, the totally remodeled course reopened with a new look, new energy, and a new name – Poplar Creek – land marked by the poplar trees and creek that run through the course.

Poplar Creek is home to the Robert O’Brien Junior Championship and the San Mateo County Championship, having such notable past winners as former PGA Tour Professional, Johnny Miller.

Today, Poplar Creek averages over 75,000 rounds a year, making it one of the most popular golf courses in Northern California.
